Profile:

William Speir was born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1962. He has spent most of his professional life in Management Consulting and Human Resources, having worked for companies and with clients across the United States and Canada. He has lectured on ethics and business practices on college campuses, and has lectured on Scottish and American History to civic and historic organizations. William has always had a fascination with the myths and legends associated with knights and orders of knighthood throughout the ages. He holds the ranks of Knight of the Royal Order of the Principality of Hutt River and Knight Commander of the Order of St. Thomas of Acre. William was also inducted into the Honorable Order of St. Barbara at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, in 2009. William has helped start a number of non-profit corporations, and holds officer and director positions in several cultural and historic organizations. He is an American Civil War reenactor, certified instructor of antique (muzzle-loading black powder) artillery, and a strong supporter of American Revolutionary and Civil War battlefield preservation efforts. William has published a number of muzzle-loading artillery training manuals that are used by the Loyal Train of Artillery Chapter of the United States Field Artillery Association at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, and by the Royal School or Artillery of the Royal Hutt River Army. William resides in Florida with his wife, Lee Anne and his cat, Major (a gray Maine Coon named for Major John Pelham, J. E. B. Stuart’s chief of artillery). William's son Brad and his wife Susie live in Connecticut, while William's daughter Sonya and her husband Tom live in Central Florida.
